Privacy policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data the Georgian Academy of Internal Medicine (GAIM) collects through this website and the My GAIM member portal, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

1. Who we are

The Georgian Academy of Internal Medicine (GAIM) is a non-profit (non-commercial) legal entity based in Tbilisi, Georgia. GAIM is responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

  • Credentials, work experience and publications that you add to your profile, and an optional profile photo.
  • Optionally, your date of birth and gender.
  • CME records, GAIM credits and achievements (for example, Morning Reports presented), recorded by GAIM administrators.
  • If you sign in with Google: the name and email address of your Google account. We do not receive your Google password.

3. Why we use it

  • To administer membership, including reviewing new member applications.
  • To keep records of your participation in GAIM education.
  • To track CME credits and GAIM credits.
  • To show your listing in the public member directory, only if you choose to appear there.
  • To contact you about GAIM activities, such as events and educational sessions.

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

4. The public member directory is opt-in

You are not listed in the public directory unless you turn it on in My GAIM → Profile. If you do, and your membership is active, anyone visiting the website can see only your name, profession and GAIM Member ID. Your email, phone number and other details are never shown publicly. You can turn this off at any time.

5. Where your data is stored

  • Member data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, in its European Union region (Frankfurt, Germany).
  • Materials in the GAIM education library are stored in Google Drive.
  • The website is hosted by Vercel, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site.
  • If you sign in with Google, Google processes that sign-in under its own privacy policy.

6. Who can see your data

  • You can see and edit your own profile in My GAIM.
  • GAIM administrators can see member data to manage membership, education records and credits.
  • The public can see only the directory fields listed in section 4, and only if you have opted in.
  • Our service providers (section 5) process data on our behalf only to run the website and portal.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you are a member, and for a reasonable period afterwards to maintain education and credit records. You can ask us to delete your data at any time; we will do so unless we need to keep specific records for a clear legal or administrative reason, which we will explain to you.

8. Your rights

You can:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct your data, either in My GAIM or by contacting us.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Withdraw your consent to appear in the public directory at any time.
  • Contact us at info@gaimteam.org with any request or concern. You may also contact the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.

9. Cookies

We use only cookies that the website needs to work: login cookies that keep you signed in to My GAIM, and a cookie that remembers your language choice. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell members by email or in My GAIM.
